From beautiful beaches to NASCAR, the Tar Heel state is a place for people of all ages. Being that North Carolina is one of the original 13 colonies, you’ll defiantly want to visit at least once in your life. If you haven’t started your bucket list, what are you waiting for? Here are five reasons why North Carolina should definitely be on your travel bucket list.

1. Outer Banks

The Outer Banks, also known as the OBX, has many historical places to explore, such as the Wright Brothers Memorial located in the heart of Kill Devil Hills, NC. This attraction invites visitors to learn about the Wright Brothers’ historic flights. Offering a panoramic view of the Wrights’ reconstructed 1903 camp. If you’re headed toward Corolla, NC, you may come across some of the area’s historic wild horses. Remember it’s illegal to touch, feed, or approach them. If you spot a Lighthouse, try to stop in and climb up to get a breathtaking view you’ll never forget. Before you go, stop at one of the local shops and grab a souvenir to take home and show your friends.

2. Blue Ridge Mountains

Did you know that Mount Mitchell is the highest peak of the Appalachian Mountains? Reaching out at 6,684 ft above sea level. Explore the full-service restaurant and lodge, sitting at the very top. The Blue Ridge Mountains of NC, are packed full of hiking trails, and waterfalls. Even if your not up for the walk, take a drive along Blue Ridge Parkway to see North Carolina’s natural scenery. Each season brings it’s own beauty so it’s great to explore year-round. Have you ever stayed the night in a log cabin? If not, Ashe County Real Estate offers local rentals, at an affordable price.

3. The NASCAR Hall of Fame

Learn about the legends who shaped the sport of NASCAR at The NASCAR Hall of Fame, located in Charlotte, NC. Have you ever wanted to know what it would be like to drive a stock car? Well, here you can get behind the wheel of eight different NASCAR stock cars. They also offer a fun exhibit where you can build your race car at the Virtual Painting Booth. This will be a great experience for the whole family.

4. State Parks

North Carolina State Parks offer ground camping, tent, and RV sites, along with cabins. Make the most out of camping by visiting a State Park that suits you and your family. Coming into camp with an RV is great, having everything you need all in one. While you’re away from home you might want to consider getting an RV warranty, just in case. This is a great way to get closer to nature and away from technology. Camping is also a great experience for those who want to capture wildlife photos.

5. BBQ

Barbecue is an important part of North Carolina’s history. There are two type’s of BBQ offered: Lexington style and Eastern style. Lexington style is a more ketchup-based flavor. Whereas Eastern style is more vinegar and spiciness. Either way, you won’t be disappointed with the taste. Grab a BBQ plate with onion rings, a hush puppy, and a large sweet tea. You can brag to your friends that you had a true southern meal. In North Carolina, the word “barbecue” is a noun. Preferring to food like ( “Are y’all goin’ to the barbecue?”). You might hear people talk like this in the Tar Heel State.

North Carolina has a bit of everything for everyone. With great views and scrumptious food, you’ll want to come back again and again. The possibilities of family fun are endless. Make any season great by visiting North Carolina and catch up on the history.
